The Military in other countries have turned against their own countrymen for money, privilege, and power?

What exactly are you trying to say? That Governments should not have a military? It wouldn't happen here because if you turn on the Government here you get squashed. And squashed quickly. It has been this way ever since the end of the Civil War. The U.S. Government made a statement at the end of that War. Basicly saying we're not the British. If you turn on us for whatever reason we will make you pay for it. And they have ever since. When the South lost that became the begining of a Strong Federal Government that won't put up with any dissidents.
