When did Christians stop killing people for converting to another religion?

I can only think of one religion which calls for the death of apostates, and it's about 600 years younger than Christianity. Somewhere along the line, the practice of executing people who leave Christianity literally became a "thing of the past". How far back do we have to go to find references of the execution of Christian apostates?
